Toronto West Rotary COVID-19 fundraising

Toronto West Rotary’s bottle drive continues. They are collecting empty beer cans, and beer, wine and liquor bottles. 100 percent of the proceeds these donations is going toward a COVID-19 project that is supplying masks, hand-sanitizers and gloves to women’s shelters, food banks and other community organizations. The Club’s goal is to raise $10,000 and they are already more than half-way there!

More information on their activities is available at So please bring your returnable empties to the market!

Poster about the Reopening of the Montgomery's Inn Farmers Market

What else can you do at Montgomery’s Inn right now?

As part of HistoricTO, Montgomery’s Inn is offering time-ticketed walking tours Wednesdays through Sundays. Tours are sixty minutes in length. Admission is pay-what-you-can (PWYC) with a suggested donation of $10. The tour will cover the Montgomery’s farm, the story of Joshua Glover (an escaped enslaved person who worked at the Inn for decades), Indigenous history, as well as the story of the Chinese market gardeners (which inspired us to start the Farmers Market in the first place!)

The  tour, which does not include the grounds or the interior of Montgomery’s Inn, includes brief strolls (some on an incline) to approximately five points between Montgomery’s Inn and Mimico Creek, along with periods of standing (about 5 minutes each) and one exterior stair case.

Click here to book your walking tour.

Other City of Toronto History Museums are also offering walking tours. Learn more here.

To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, HistoricTO guidelines include lower ratios and capacity, physical distancing, and mandatory health screening. The interior of the building will remain closed to the public until later in September.
