Family Day Weekend Drop In Stories and Poetry at Montgomery’s Inn

Saturday February 17, 1-3 pm

Free, no reservation required

Enjoy drop-in family day activities, including stories and poetry, for the whole family. Be inspired by diverse, Black storytellers and Toronto’s own Poet Laureate, Lillian Allen. This event includes hands-on activities and a free book to take home for kids!


Lunar New Year Reading & Tea at Montgomery’s Inn

Monday February 19, 2024

1 pm: Reading and craft, free no reservation required

2 pm: Tea, $12, tickets in advance

Welcome the year of the Dragon with a Lunar New Year tea. Enjoy a plate of traditional New Year sweets and a bottomless pot of Chinese or herbal teas included in ticket purchase.

Before the tea, all may enjoy a free craft and reading of TWELVE IN A RACE and DRAGON’S DILEMMA by children’s author Catherine Little.


In Praise of Black Culture at Montgomery’s Inn

Saturday February 24, 7-9 pm

$15, tickets in advance

Enjoy an evening of poetry led by Poet Laureate, Lillian Allen. Readings will be shared of newly commissioned works by the students of Lillian Allen. This evening of poetry speaks to the way that belonging creates a sense of safety and power within Communities of Colour.


Toronto History Museums celebrates Black History Month with Lifting Voices for Belonging, a series of programs which celebrates the many contributions and the enduring legacy of Black communities on this land now known as Canada.
